Bee-friendly flowers

Attracting pollinators to your garden is not only important for the health of your plants, but also for the health of bees and our environment! Honey bees pollinate one in three bites we eat, according to the Honey Bee Health Coalition, and are facing a sharp population decline.

To join forces to “save the bees,” there are few things we can do to help increase the population of our stripey black and yellow friends. While we can’t all have hives in our backyards, we can take a different step to supporting bees. Certain plants are exceptionally good at secreting nectar and pollen that bees need. The following are a few of the flowers that will bring all the bees to your yard:

Bee Balm

Breadseed Poppy

California Poppy

Chives

Cosmos

Cranesbill

Echinacea

Forget-me-not

 Globe Thistle

Purple Cornflower

Russian Sage

Sunflower
